What to do after Registering at Mark So's Forex Orientation?

Anyway, I think the error is not because of the website but some protection controls set-up in my computer. My action plan: I think it would be better to log-in again and when I'm successful I will blog about it. As for error 104, I searched for it in Google but so far I haven't read anything that will offer me a solution.

I attended John Calub's Money Magnet Seminar at the SMX Convention early this year. I had more appreciation of the lessons of Jack Canfield, T. Harv Ecker and Napoleon Hill because of John Calub. It was like listening to the lesson of these motivational speakers prepared in Filipino-inspired version. On the other hand, there were also some weak points like the waning energy level by the end of the day and the rushed closing activity due to lack of time to finish activities. I hoped John Calub focused more on the crucial parts of the seminar because they were the practical exercises Filipinos can practice such as how to compute your networth and performing the assignments instead of spending the entire morning going through the testimonials and the story of his life.

Still, it can be a good starting point for those who want to start building their financial literacy activities in their life. And with the very affordable ticket price, expect that there will be lots of people. So come early to the venue if you want to get good sits. Hopefully, you can also gain new friends in the process.

PSI Leadership Basic Success Seminar Batch 238

Last night September 7, 2010, my fellow PSI graduates of batch 238 celebrated our graduation at the Soliman Corp Center, 2182 Chino Roces Avenue Makati (near Makati Square and Walter Mart and in between Herald Suites and Oriental Place). The graduation came after four days of seminar starting September 1 until September 4, 2010. On the first two days, the seminar lasted from 6 pm until 12 midnight while the last two days (which is a weekend), the PSI seminar is from 9 am to 8 pm. Now, people might feel overwhelmed with the PSI seminar schedule especially because of the first two days since Friday is still a workday and you will be staying till past 12 midnight. However, what I learned is that when you are enjoying something, time flies. You don't even notice that hours are ticking away and you will get surprised that you have reached the last day of the seminar in a breeze. The experience was like a vacation for me where you feel so energized. And oh do you wish that you didn't have to go home to the real world! However, come to think of it? Isn't the purpose of going on vacation is so that you will be more productive once you join the real world again? So on a brighter side, joining seminars such as this is one of those breaks you need to do to recharge not just physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually (does not pertain to any religious belief though as PSI is not a religious seminar at all).



That's a powerful thought! There is nothing much I can say about my PSI experience not because I don't want to share it but mostly because I want the future students to maximize their learnings by discovering the truths by themselves. Somehow personal experience matters here more than just vicarious learning. It makes a more memorable impact that you might even consider a life-changing experience for you.

Although one thing I can readily share with you is that they offer the same leadership success seminar to kids from ages 5 to 12. The PSI Kids seminar lasts for just two days. Why is it shorter than the adults' PSI Leadership Success seminar when its supposed to be for kids? Well, the simple explanation is that it is easier for kids to comprehend the lessons than adults. Kids are more honest and open-minded. There's not much "un-learning" that has to be done for kids.

Still I can share some important discoveries I learned from the seminar which I will break down in three parts:

1. Things I already know about me
a. My strengths and my goals in life
b. The laws of the universe that governs all the creatures.

2. Things I don't know about me
a. The mechanisms I can do to reach the goals in my life
b. Inspiring people who have achieved their goals against all odds

3. Things I don't know that I don't know about me

a. My fears and the things that stop me from achieving my goals
b. My untapped strengths

For some what I listed maybe too general for you to consider taking the seminar but for me those nuggets of truths are the most important bullets in my life I have learned in a little over 1/4 of the century I have lived here in this world.

If I have learned them when I was younger, I could have done better EQ-wise together with being IQ-wise. Still, there is no use crying over spilled milk. And as a parent I am given a second-chance to make it better for my child who I am going to enroll to PSI Kids Seminar very very soon. They say education is the best gift we could ever give to our children. However, we also know that education is not limited to the four corners of the classroom. There is so much more to life than just the subjects we learn from school. So give this opportunity to your kids, and give them a gift of life education. Changing Direction (by Cito Beltran): A Review

Last August 21, 2010, I was privileged to attend Mr. Cito Beltran's seminar entitled Changing Direction: Achieving Personal and Organizational Success Through Strategic Thinking.



Just a brief background about the people behind the event. Mr. Cito Beltran was the host of the show Straight Talk and a columnist in Philippine Star. On the other hand, Mr. Randell Tiongson is a personal finance coach and educator and maintains a website http://www.randelltiongson.com/. Last but not the least, Ms. Jenny Ignacio is responsible for the marketing and promotions of this event. Once again to the organizers, my heartfelt gratitude for inviting me in your event.



The first thing that struck me in Mr. Cito Beltran's introduction is when he said that "The most challenging things in life is the one that makes you prosper." It made me realize that in this seminar I will be expecting some concepts that would require changes in my perception and ideas.



In the first part of the seminar, Mr. Cito Beltran was talking about the concept of strategic thinking. But what is strategic thinking in the first place?

According to Mr. Cito Beltran, "Strategic thinking" is not about planning ahead but rather about seeking advantages. Mr. Cito Beltran reiterated this point several times during the seminar. On the other hand, although strategic thinking is about seeking advantages it does not mean that since you have the upper hand that you will have the right to take advantage.

Strategic thinking is also a mindset or an attitude. It is about recognizing advantages and harvesting opportunities.

Mr. Beltran said that this seminar is currently the toughest presentation he has prepared so far. I do understand why it can be hard especially when one of the goals is to see the lessons in this seminar as a means to redefine one's experience, the way one sees life, the way one thinks.

Is it possible to reach this goal in just a few hours of lecture? I asked myself that question at the beginning as well.

Mr. Cito Beltran advised the attendees that not all opportunities are obvious advantages as everything requires an investment. Thus, our advantage never remains the same. However, we have to be always on a look-out on what can be considered an advantage. For example, physical proximity can be regarded as an advantage.

However, there are several things that stop us from seeing opportunities and advantages that can enrich us. Mr. Beltran said one of those delimiting factors is our culture. Most of us (Filipinos in particular) think that declaring our profit or that the word "profit" itself is a dirty word. Beltran advices that it should not be regarded as bad if we only know how to moderate our greed. Another thing is that since we are not raised in a culture of commerce, we do not know how to express our intention to earn. However, a financially literate citizenry is one of the ways we can ensure the future of our children.

He also touched on the attitude of "pwede na yan". Indeed, how many times have we heard this from people around us and even coming from our own lips. The talk discussed the importance of educating our children and the importance of giving them due credit for their work. Why? Because as he said "The son is the story of a man."

There are certain requirements, one has to consider to perform strategic thinking and I will be listing some of them.

1. First is to STOP and study what your doing. For me this means, giving yourself time to reflect and think where are you now in your life and where are you heading.

2. Being deliberate

3. Finally being ready to "Peel your onion" - a symbolical activity where one has to peel the layers of an onion to finally see one's true core.

So is there a chance for me to be a strategic thinker? I can say it is highly probable given that among the characteristics listed I have 4 out of the 8 listed items namely I am an incurable optimist, a solution provider, a role-player and finally an unconventional thinker.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Cito Beltran listed several case studies to show us real-life examples on how strategic thinking works. It was for me an eye-opener as I realized that there are things I thought was seen as being nice but was actually hurting me and the people around me because I lost a lot of possible opportunities.

However, this seminar is not about despairing on what I have lost. For me, it was a wake-up call which challenged me to take action given that now that I am aware of the things I have missed, what am I going to do about it?

There is really no black-and-white answer to this question but as Mr. Cito Beltran said you can have two options: Continue with your life and just think that it was a two thousand well spent or change and evolve which will most probably cause you much discomfort but you can regard it as investment which could probably earn you millions because you have discovered another light-bulb moment in your life.

Overall, the seminar really helped me answer a life question which I is currently disturbing me a lot at the moment. And for me that is the best gift I am bringing home tonight.

Grand Kapamilya Negosyo Fair 2 - A Review of the first day

ABS-CBN hosted the Grand Kapamilya Negosyo Fair 2 at the SMX Convention last August 14 to 15, 2010.



During the expo, the first thing I noticed was that the line was made in a very orderly fashion to avoid pushing in the registration booth. The entrance fee is P50 pesos and you can get a raffle for every ticket bought. According to the secretariat officers, the best prize in the raffle was a franchise of your own. However, they cannot divulge which franchise business they are giving away. The only downside is that you have to be inside the expo when your name is called to be eligible to claim your prize.



There are also mini-seminars being held during the expo. On the first day early morning of the seminar, Francisco Colayco, author of "Pera Mo: Palaguin Mo" series was giving his talk. I went around the expo with my cool tita, Tita Zeny Parilla of Install All (They sell and rent different kinds of ladders). One thing we noticed is that there are several booths for kiosks and food stands. The top three kiosks I remember are those selling noodles, siomai and waffles. There are other businesses as well such as garments, herbal supplements and beauty products, car dealership, jewelry, souvenirs and photo booths.



But the real question here is that why should one attend these kinds of expos? and how can it improve your financial literacy?
1. First, it's really a cheap way to keep abreast on what is the latest trends on microbusiness opportunities right now.
2. You have a chance to grow your network and meet people who have similar interests. You also might find the business partner you've been looking for all this time.
3. You have access to short seminars from financial gurus.
4. And last but not the least, you have lots of opportunities to take photos with the stars of the Kapamilya network. (ok I'm not saying this is the only reason to visit this expo. I'm just having a little fun here.)



But seriously, if the booths and franchises being offered in the expo was twice as fun as the booths of the different Kapamilya shows I'm sure people would be lining up to get their flyers. However, one must also consider the reason for visiting each booth. When you go to the businesses, your goal is to ask around about the business and not to really play games and be the anchor-for-the-day, answer trivia questions or take wacky 5-second pictures and then next pose activities. However, I also noticed that people walk around and yeah they take the businesses' flyers but then people just shove it in their bag or plastic. Hopefully, the potential customer will go back and read it or at least show it to friends or family. So I guess if you can fuse the impact of the entertainment booths and the purpose of the franchise booths to make a memorable visit then that business will definitely have more impact to potential customers and hopefully again more inquiries will turn to more buyers.

So far, the nuggets of truth I took home that day are as follows:
1. Food is still a lucrative business here in the Philippines since there is no aisle in that expo you wouldn't see a person munching or drinking something.
2. That the franchise business can be a good start for a person to try his skills as an entrepreneur. There are several booths there willing to help the incoming franchisee set-up his business from the ground-up (for a fee of course).
3. Filipinos love to bring home freebies (myself including) e.g. the long queue for the free french fries
